“Folktales and customs are for sharing and holding dear. Each season, Chef Martha Ortiz uses food to re-tell one of Mexico’s enchanting stories,” Ella Canta.
The wait is over, Ella Canta (She Sings) restaurant by renowned Mexican chef Martha Ortiz opened on September 15 in the English capital. Londoners will be able to enjoy Mexican cuisine, with the unique culinary style that Martha imprints to every recipe.
In Ella Canta, Martha Ortiz intertwines traditional recipes with contemporary techniques, in the same way as in her restaurant Dulce Patria located in Mexico City.
Guests will enjoy signature dishes that have made Martha one of the most renowned chefs in Latin America, such as her unique crunchy pork amaranth tamal (a traditional dish made of maize-based dough steamed in a maize husk or banana leaf), its amazing lobster pozole (a thick stew-like soup including, hominy, mild chili peppers, and oregano), and the delicious black mole (a traditional sauce used in Mexican cuisine) duck.
The bar offers a large collection of Mexican mezcales (a distilled alcoholic beverage made from any type of agave plant native to Mexico) and tequilas (a distilled alcoholic beverage made from blue agave plant produced specifically in Tequila and its surroundings) and a varied list of cocktails called "Mexico's gifts for the World".
This season's menu is inspired by the Mexican holiday Day of the Death in which family and friends remember friends and family members who have died celebrated on November 1 and 2.
David Collins Studio and Simon Rawlings were in charge of Ella Canta's design.
Ella Canta is located in Park Lane, at the InterContinental London Park Lane.
